Self Discipline Takes Many Forms

On time every time, that's me.  It does not matter if the location of the event is 100 miles away, I arrive almost to the minute of the start of the planed event.  It takes much more than looking at a watch to be on time so why am I so punctual?  The first thought is self discipline but I sure have not made that trait work for myself in other areas of life.  There are probably many different reasons but lets flip a coin and maybe figure out why I run like a fine Swiss watch.
Why are some people never on time?  I seem to know a ton of these people and I' ll admit to getting real defensive when having to deal with one of these people.  Although I don't say it I'm always thinking " I am always on time, whats your excuse".  Everyone is late every once in a while, even myself.  Maybe the car would not start or a tire decided to go flat, both are justified excuses for tardiness.  What ever the reason for being late, to say that tardiness is inconsiderate  is probably accurate but it's rarely used by a person who's late when they describe the situation.  Some people just love to make a late entrance, giving them a chance to apologize and seek forgiveness.  Maybe they are indifferent of the effects of making others wait.  What ever the reason, I shake my head is self centered intolerance every time I encounter lateness.
Time to flip the coin again.  I started off trying to figure out why I'm always on time.  I check my watch often, particularly when there is a deadline approaching.  Always estimating the time needed to get to where ever I need to be and even calculating the time needed to return.  But I still have no ideal why I am always naturally on time with out trying very hard.  Could punctuality be hereditary or the way one is raised?  I remember Mom telling me the library books were due on a certain date so I would read like crazy to beat her deadline, sure did not want her to have to pay a fine for my lateness.  Giving equal time, Dad demanded me to be at the dinner table at 5 pm if I wanted to eat and I sure wanted to eat.
Self discipline or owning a Rolex are doubtful reasons why my life runs like a fine Swiss watch.  Maybe it's as simple as something Popeye the sailor Man always said.  "I Yam What I Yam and that's all I Yam"
