Dysfunction Junction

The current day Republicans are not the Republicans I grew up with.  Their self inflected wounds have changed their party forever.  From government shutdowns to this years carnival liken GOP presidential primary, it's hard to pick a turning point in the party's dysfunction.  A good starting point for that dysfunction is when Sarah Palin  became the sweet heart of the Republican Party.  How the GOP didn't recognize her incompetence and ill preparedness I'll never understand. This week Mrs Palin's son was arrested for domestic violence   Seems the drunk son was packing heat when he assaulted a woman who was in his home.  Now his mother is blaming her son's trouble on President Obama, give me a break.  It wasn't long ago the the whole Palin clan got into a drunken brawl at a friends house party. What in the world was John McCain thinking when he chose her as his VP mate?  McCain is one of the few Republicans I like.  His stance on immigration and campaign finance is almost Democratic like, but he chose a Tea Party Queen as his running mate which put Obama on cruse control.
It's hard to feel much sympathy for the Republican Party for they have brought this misery upon themselves.  Even if they were able to get their car out of the ditch, another dysfunction junction is right around the bend.
