With the Republicans in total control of government one would think they could get everything done they want to. That does not seem to be the case They could not muster enough votes to repeal and replace the Affordable Health Care act so they drug Senator McCain off his death bed, put him in a private jet and flew him to Congress so the Senator could rally his Republican Senators With McCain's yes vote and the Vice President's yes vote the Republicans at least advanced the health care bill into debate status. It looks as though that jet trip has backfired on the Republicans because early this morning Senator McCain cast the deciding NO vote to send the chances of repealing the health car act down in flames It still looks like getting anything done is going to be tough sledding. With the Debt Ceiling on the horizon, giving the government more money to pay their bills may also be stopped in it's tracks by the GOP's Tea Party wing. Then their is the budget The Republicans want to make savage cuts to domestic programs, most of which help the poor. The GOP wants a budget that guts Medicaid, food stamps and takes a knife to social security and Medicare. All this so they can give the rich a tax cut.
Where does all this leave us? I would say "in a pickle" With the President and his team under investigation and getting worse and worse every passing day. the Congress may not be able to get anything done. I do like pickles but the GOP pickle may need to stay in the barrel until new leadership is elected
