Crock-Pot or Slow-Cooker as some people call the appliances have been around for a long time. They are a kitchen appliance every cook should have in their kitchen. A $12 electric can opener, $8 electric toaster and $26 Crock-Pot are three of the kitchen appliances I use the most. Crock-Pots can cost less than $20 although I prefer spending a little more to buy one with a built in timer. The newest version of the old reliable Slower-Cooker is the Instant-Pot. An Instant-Pot cost around $100 and cooks your meal in a tenth of the time it takes for a Slow-Cooker to cook the same meal. I've thought about buying an Instant-Pot but decided against it. I don't want my meal done in 45 minutes. I want to put it in the Crock-Pot at 9 AM and take it out around 4-5 PM. Cooking with a slow cooker helps to heat my small living space in the Winter. During the Summer I use the Crock-Pot outside and that helps the house AC not to have to work so hard to cool the house. I guess there are some foods that a Crock-Pot is not made for but most mistakes using a Slower-Cooker are caused by human error not the pot itself . Happy cooking the slow way.
