Stepping On The Scale

New Year's 2018 has come and gone. Have you gained any weight this year? Maybe you had an extra plate of that fabulous Thanksgiving meal yesterday.  I know you had your eye on that second slice of pie. Was one of your 2018 resolutions to lose weight?  Most of us obsess over our weight and sometimes simply stepping on a scale can be a scary act.   The numbers don't lie and to make matters worse they are staring us right in the face as to say "get off me, you fat ass".  I like to think the numbers are saying "great job, your not as overweight as you thought you were".   If the numbers are lower than we expected then we congratulate ourselves.  If the numbers are higher then the flashing failure sign goes off in our heads.  It would be much better if the scale flashed colors instead of numbers.  Green for maintaining our current weight, blue for losing weight and red for gaining weight.  Maybe the scale could send us a text a couple of hours before we step on it warning us of a possible five pound weight gain.  Ditching the scale all together is really not an option if one wants to maintain a somewhat healthy life.  None of us are ever going to weigh the same as when we were in High School.  If I remember correctly I weighed between 176-178 in High School and today  48 years later I weigh between 182-184.  Five pounds in 48 years is not bad at all, the scale has been kind to me.

  1. Way to go Brent!

Three years ago, I decided to do something about it, the weight I mean. And one week after my first Weight Watchers meeting, I was 6 lbs. lighter! That was encouragement enough for me to keep at it.

Tomorrow I will make Lifetime, having met and maintained the loss of 75 lbs. With a plan, encouragement and support, you can do it too!
