There are basically three ways to make a purchase, cash, debit card or credit card. Oh I guess there is a fourth if you want to count a paper check. Paper checks are a hug hassle if you ask me. People who use paper checks in the checkout line are the worst, they slow everything down for the rest of us. You would think they would have everything on the check filled out except for the amount. It's not like they don't know they will be going through the checkout line. Most of the time their groceries get bagged before they finish writing the check.. If I get caught behind one of the forever check writers my only option for keeping my self centered personality under control is to mentally recite "Patience Is A Virtue" over and over and over until it's my time to pay for my purchase with of course a Credit Card. Cash is becoming a thing of the past. I can't remember the last time I used cash to pay for a purchase. Debit cards as basically the same as cash. They are really for people who don't have any discipline when it comes to their money. I've never used a debit card because I never wanted to be restricted to the balance in my bank account. Everyone needs a little financial breathing room every once in a while and that's why I prefer a credit card. 99% of the time I pay the card's balance in full every month but there are times when I paid the card's balance over a several month period. Yes I've paid a little interest over the years but those on time payments has gotten me a credit score of 807.
I prefer to use a credit card for everything. About the only purchase I don't use it for is the rent and that's only because my landlord will not that that form of payment. The card I use gives me cash back at the end of every year. In 2019 the card paid me $207 which I used to buy more stuff I probably could have done without. but it was free money. What do you use for payment? If your still using cash or a debit card your fast becoming a relic of the past and if your going to pay with a paper check please don't get in front of me in the check out line.
